A pie in the face for Cancer! The American Pie Party hosts National Pie Day fundraiser by Ron Greenbaum | Jan 26, 2015 | Uncategorized | 0 comments Home A pie in the face for Cancer! The American Pie Party hosts National Pie Day fundraiser On Friday, January 23, The American Pie Party hosted a “National Pie Day” event at The Shamrock Club to raise money for cancer. This organization has made it its mission to fight the disease and raise both funds and awareness through humor. Ron Greenbaum, The Basement Doctor, was on hand at this fun event, to both thuk-grid and receive a pie to his face. Ron wasn’t the only member of The Basement Doctor team there to support this cause. His pie came courtesy of Tom Johnston, President and General Manager of The Basement Doctor. Tom’s first attempt didn’t quite land on Greenbaum’s face, but he really got him on the second try. Greenbaum retaliated by nominating Tom to take a pie from his daughter Karen, a cancer survivor, and accounting manager Jack Witt, who recently lost a loved one to cancer. The theme for the night was “Tag” and “Pie it Forward.” The event was hosted by American Pie Party founder Tony Sobony, and included several members of the community including former Ohio State Buckeye Jimmie Bell and State Representative Michael Stinziano. Bell, now a motivational speaker, accepted two pies from Greenbaum. His mother Saundra Bell recently won her battle with cancer, making his involvement in the evening especially meaningful. Stinziano took his pie from a young volunteer. For more information about the organization or to learn how you can help #pieitforward, visit www.americanpieparty.org.
